The beautiful and talented Piper Hayes performed at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern as part of Music City North’s Queen Street Fest.
I have no idea how solo performers can do it. Standing on stage completely alone, bathed in lights with everyone’s eyes trained squarely on them…needless to say I don’t have to worry about such a thing. Thankfully Piper handled it perfectly. Her on stage demeanour is relaxed, and she looks like, wait for it…she’s actually having fun!
Many performers need to take note of this little nugget of wisdom. If you enjoy yourself, there’s a greater chance the audience will enjoy themselves!
Mind you, it also helps if you have talent, which Ms Hayes has lots of!
Toronto-based singer-songwriter L.A. Turcotte performed an intimate set at The Cadillac Lounge as part of Music City North’s Festival showcase. Jumping between acoustic guitar and keyboard, Turcotte exuded a strong, sultry voice. With vocal nods to Sheryl Crow and Carly Simon, her original songs are compelling and personal, yet manage to engage the listener with inclusive, universal themes of love and loss.
