Basia Bulat – The Kool Haus, Toronto

“My name is Basia Bulat, and I’m from Toronto, Canada” the tiny singer announced formally, to wild hometown applause. Opening for Seattle’s The Head and The Heart, Basia gave a solid 45 minute set, engaging the crowd in sing-alongs, clap-alongs and even tried to incite a moshpit at one point. There was a little too much love for her in the room to get violent.

Touring extensively in support of her latest record “Tall Tall Shadow” (scroll down to hear the title track) she’s been added in regular rotation to the CBC radio playlist and performs with endless energy and sheer joy.

After the show she stayed at the merch counter and signed each and every CD and record sold, and conversed with fans, totally unrushed and appreciative of their support. Her hometown shows are always frantic and exciting, she tells me, with her stunning green eyes growing even wider. She’s joined by so many her family and friends visiting backstage and yet she made the time for every one of her fans, including this one.
