July Talk – Danforth Music Hall, Toronto 10/28/2016

July Talk continue their live assault across North America in support of their second LP Touch (Sleepless Records), and the rooms are getting bigger and bigger, including two triumphant sold-out shows at The Danforth Music Hall this past weekend. There’s not much i can really say about July Talk I haven’t said before. Listen to their records. Look at these photos. GO SEE THEM LIVE!

The Lumineers – Mod Club Theatre, Toronto

Well, it’s all out in the open now. Fred & Mel’s Secret Thing is out. That’s right the 102.1 The Edge morning hosts can state for the record neither of them have any more secrets to hide, ever. This last one was a big reveal. Hundreds of fans and listeners lined up on College St at The Mod Club Theatre in anticipation for an invite-only mystery concert on a Wednesday night. The buzz was a big band was going to headline a small club show, but who could it be? No hints!

The presence of the lovely folks at Dine Alone Records outside the venue helped narrow down the guesses, and with such a stellar roster, the odds were it was going to be one hell of a show. No cell phones were permitted in the show. Whoever was taking the stage had some nerve to deny the crowd their MySpace updating privileges for a few hours.

The Edge did not disappoint. Fashionably late by about 20 minutes Fred & Mel introduced The Lumineers to a packed house. OK, those in the front of the club may have had a clue given the eponymous bass drum.

Wesley Schultz and company came to town to promote their second album “Cleopatra” out next week on Dine Alone Records/Dualtone which features the hit single “Ophelia.” Scroll down for the beautiful video and stay tuned to edge.ca for exclusive concert footage soon!

Death From Above 1979 – 102.1 The Edge

Acoustic guitar and mandolin. Yep that pretty much sums up DFA1979. Well ok not really, but that’s what we got a taste of during their performance at 102.1 The Edge this past week. A very cool re-working of tracks from “The Physical World” (Trainwreck 1979, Virgins & White is Red) that didn’t blow the roof off of Corus Quay.

Royal Tusk – The Phoenix, Toronto

Royal Tusk growlin’ and rumblin’ on stage at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, as part of 102.1 The Edge’s Jingle Bell Rock concert series featuring Wildlife and Dear Rouge.

July Talk at 102.1 The Edge

Not content with excelling solely in the ass-kicking rock’n’roll business, July Talk has partnered with Toronto’s Mill Street Brewery and have launched “July Talk Conversation – California Common”

Listen to their interview with Diamond and Dye, and listen to win tickets to an exclusive performance at The Mill Street Brew Pub, July 21st.

Tokyo Police Club – Red Bull Tour Bus @ Sugar Beach, Toronto

Tokyo Police Club headlined the Red Bull Tour Bus Hometown Tour (catchy) this past weekend on Toronto’s Sugar Beach. Though factually inaccurate (TPC are from Newmarket) the Toronto location made a bit more sense. Questionable weather aside, a fun afternoon was had by all! Great music (including openers Dinosaur Bones) food supplied by parts & Labour and of course Red Bull. Tons, and tons of Red Bull!
