St. Paul & The Broken Bones – Lee’s Palace, Toronto

There’s not much I can say about St. Paul & The Broken Bones that hasn’t been said in every album and concert review already. Probably something about authentic soul, that Muscle Shoals mystique, the fact that they can pack houses across North America on the strength of…wait what’s that single that’s burning up radio? Oh that’s right. They’re not played on the radio. There just not marketable enough. So what the hell were the capacity crowd at Lee’s (600) doing sweating up a storm on a Sunday night? Enjoying an incredible band that is thriving by word of mouth of their phenomenal live performances and their debut record Half The City (Single Lock Records, 2014). Fuck the industry, music is where it’s at.
