Morris Day & The Time – Toronto Jazzfest

What Time Is It? Well if looking at Morris Day is any indication, it’s pretty damn difficult to tell. Virtually ageless, Morris E. Day commanded the stage with his usual cool, condensating and ever so suave in the heat.

Featuring original Time members Monte Moir on keys and Jellybean Johnson on drums, The Time ran through all the hits going back to “Cool”, “The Stick” “Get It Up” – The follow-up What Time Is it?- “Wild and Loose”, “777-9311”, “The Walk” to 1990’s Pandemonium – “Jerk Out”, “Chocolate”, “Pandemonium” and of course the biggies from 1984’s Ice Cream Castles – “The Bird” and show-closer “Jungle Love” and many more.

Featuring Tori “Freakjuice” Ruffin on guitar and Ricky Smith on bass, Morris Day & The Time brought the funk to Toronto Jazzfest which continued on quite nicely as George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic followed suit and jammed into the night.
